Livestock producers across Africa are facing a silent crisis: the rising cost of animal feed. For many smallholder poultry and livestock farmers, feed represents over 70% of their production costs. When feed becomes unaffordable or unreliable, food production suffers—and so do livelihoods.

To address this systemic challenge, AgDyna launched the FarmClusters® HQCP Project, a bold initiative to turn agricultural waste into wealth through the production and distribution of High-Quality Cassava Peel (HQCP) Mash for animal feed.

What is HQCP Mash?

HQCP (High-Quality Cassava Peel) Mash is a nutrient-rich, safe, and cost-effective alternative feed ingredient made from processed cassava peels. Developed and validated by leading research institutions like ILRI, HQCP mash is proven to reduce feed costs while maintaining animal health and performance.

AgDyna’s Approach: Clustering for Scale and Impact

The FarmClusters® HQCP Project leverages AgDyna’s corporation-cooperative model to build a network of 25 production clusters across Nigeria, starting with the Southwest region. Each cluster integrates cassava processors, livestock farmers, and feed producers into a digitally managed ecosystem powered by AgDyna’s Farmsured™ and Farmtrove™ platforms.

🔧 Cluster Infrastructure Includes:

  • 20 hammer mills per cluster

  • 100 hydraulic presses for cassava mash extraction

  • 10 drying systems to ensure product safety and shelf-life

  • 5 trucks per cluster to support last-mile logistics and distribution

Why This Matters

  • Reduces cassava peel waste by 80% through value-added processing

  • Provides 13,500 metric tonnes of HQCP mash annually across the clusters

  • Creates over 10,000 jobs for youth and women in the cassava-livestock value chain

  • Enhances feed access for smallholder poultry, pig, and ruminant farmers

  • Aligns with national food security, waste-to-wealth, and climate resilience goals

Tech-Enabled Traceability and Compliance

All clusters operate within the Farmsured™ ecosystem, which ensures that HQCP products meet quality standards and are traceable from source to farm. Compliance is rewarded through Farmtrove™, which allows farmers to:

  • Earn loyalty points

  • Access zero-interest financing for inputs

  • Receive digital receipts and payment protection

Strategic Partnerships

This project is implemented in partnership with:

  • International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI)

  • Sustainable Farming Support Association (SFSA)

  • State-level Ministries of Agriculture

  • Local cassava processors and cooperatives

Transforming Challenges into Opportunity

The HQCP Project is not just about feed—it’s about creating a circular economy that benefits everyone in the value chain: cassava processors who now have a market for peels, livestock farmers who get cheaper feed, and youth who are trained and employed across logistics, processing, and retail.
